Top 5 Free to Play Games in Africa Q2 2021

During the second quarter of 2021, the top 5 free-to-play games in Africa showed varied performance trends in terms of weekly downloads, revenue, and active users. Here’s a closer look at the data sourced from Sensor Tower.

PUBG MOBILE witnessed significant fluctuations in its metrics. Weekly revenue peaked at around $368K in late May, while downloads saw a high of 270K in early May. Active users, however, showed a general decline, starting from 8.2M in late March and ending at approximately 6.7M by the end of June.

Candy Crush Saga experienced a notable increase in revenue towards the end of the quarter, reaching as high as $324K in mid-June. Downloads were relatively stable, peaking at 219K in late April. Active users hovered around the 5M mark throughout the quarter, with a slight dip to 4.6M in mid-June before recovering to over 5M by the end of the month.

Gardenscapes had a more modest performance. Revenue showed an upward trend in June, peaking at $148K mid-month. Downloads were on a declining trend, starting from 47K in late March and dropping to around 28K by the end of June. Active users also decreased from about 639K at the beginning of the quarter to approximately 466K by the end.

Call of Duty®: Mobile saw a significant spike in revenue at the end of June, hitting approximately $281K. Downloads varied, peaking at 40K in mid-April. The number of active users remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 530K and 665K throughout the quarter.

Coin Master showed a notable increase in revenue towards the end of the quarter, reaching $144K in mid-June. Downloads were fairly consistent, peaking at 16K in late June. Active users saw a gradual increase from 106K in late March to around 108K by the end of June.
